Family Dinner at Shannover

Shannover is a restaurant near my senior hight school. So I started to love it a few years ago. Although the menu has changed and the price is getting higher, my family and I go visit it sometimes.
What makes the restaurant special is its variety of food and drinks. Thus, there are lots of appetizers, main course, and even desserts and drinks for you to chosse when ordering a combo.
This time, I oredered a combo with pumpkin soup, bread, seafood pasta with tomato sauce, blueberry smoothie and cream brulee. Also, my family ordered a plate of fried appetizers, including shrimp, chess ball, French fries and onion rings. I have to admit that we always overestimate our potential to eat. Every time we walked out the restaurant with overly full stomach. But needless to say, it's the great taste and variety of food that attract us all time.

Awesome Tai food

This Tai food restaurant is not far away from NCCU. And it's run by my mom's friend. Thus, we come to visit frequently. Since the chef has studied cooking in France before, the dish here is somehow combine Tai flavor with French.

We ordered some curry chicken with potatoes, rice noodles with shrimps, vegetables with shrimp sauce, fried shrimp cake, sweet and sour pork, and fish with lemon juice, etc. Although Tai food usually use similar spices, each dish actually taste totally different. Therefore, I always have many bowls of rice to go with these nice cuisines. Drop by next time and you'll love it!

Couldn't Sleep with Dark Chocolate

My cousin went abroad to travel a few weeks ago and got me a piece of dark chocolate from Godiva. I'm a chocolate lover but never have really tried and chocolate that is kind of original. Thus, last night after tiring TOEFL class, I went home lying on the sofa sharing that piece of dark chocolate with my parents.
It's really astonishing to have the first bite of it in my mouth. The bitterness forced saliva come out from both side of my cheeks in my mouth, and I barely can stand the first few seconds. Even now I can feel my cheeks sore. But after I swallowed the whole little piece, the sweeterness start to popped up a little bit.
Although I've been enjoying the dark chocolate, it awaked me till 3 o'clock in the midnight. Since I'm sensitive to caffeine, I mostly don't take any of it after noon. However, because of it's huge impact on me, I had some pieces of the chocolate every morning in the week to prevent me from falling asleep in classes. And it really worked!!!

Great Seafood

During the 4-day break of school anniversary, my family and I went to southern Taiwan to have a vacation. Needless to say, the weather was so great that our trip was just like during the summer vacation. Nothing bothers in our minds. First two days, we drove to Kenting to enjoy the sunshine and breeze on the beach. Next day morning, we went to play some exciting water activities. After checking out of the hotel, my dad and I went to drive small racing cars. The speed was so fast that the racing car could even drift.
And in the evening, we drove to Kaohsiung just to try some seafood that 鱘之屋 was famous for. The name of the restaurant is some kind of crab in Chinese. Thus, this must be the best place to enjoy lobsters and crabs. What makes us want to visit it the most is the price here. Since the living cost here is far less than Taipei, the cost of the restaurant is less. Therefore, we can get a bargain here absolutely. And of course, the chef at the restaurant pays high value on the ingredients he used. That makes the food here all fresh and natural. The fried crabs, rice noodles with pumpkin, and seafood congee are suggested when visiting. After the great meal, we drove to Tainan to enjoy our vacation more.

A Journey of Chocolate

My family and I love chocolate a lot, especially the one that is original and doesn't add lots of suger and milk. Thus, we bought a box of Godiva chocolate when we were at the airport last time we went abroad. Since Godiva is too expensive to enjoy it like a normal way, I spent some time picking the one that I will be especially satisfied with.
The type of chocolate I picked is truffle. Inside the box, there are four flavors to choose. One of them is smoked, and the others are dark chocolate or caramel. Since there are plentiful layers of texture and taste in each bite, it's quite hard to explain it in words, especially in English
Anyway, I think this box is worth the price and really amazed my taste bud.

A brunch at Melange Cafe

The first time I came to this cafe is due to the program on TV which introduced delicacies in Taipei recommended it. After a year haven't came here, I invited my mom to have a brunch with my brother and I.
Since the cafe is famous for its strawberry waffles, we ordered one and chocolate waffles for my brother, who doesn't like strawberry at all. The price of waffles and sandwiches is acceptable but the minimum consumption rule is tricky. It asked each person to order at least one drink besides everything you ordered. Thus, we ordered a glass of Oreo smoothie, a glass of strawberry olay and a glass of apple, passion fruit and lemon soda. Except their prices, the drinks were totally great. And speaking of the waffles,  the strawberry one is topped with a roll of strawberry ice cream, some custard, and fresh strawberry. Besides the chocolate one is a roll of chocolate ice cream with red beans in it, some chocolate sauce and banana sauce.
The brunch is overall great to enjoy since we didn't have to wait in lines as people who want to go there at any time on weekends.

Desserts at agnes b. Cafe

I'm a strawberry person. Every time when it comes strawberry, I would definitely try it. But of course, only natural strawberry will meet my flavor. Ice cream, shaved ice, pancakes... all the desserts with strawberries on them sounds great to me. Passing by the cafe, I found the cake in the refrigerator fascinating. Without tasting it, I could already feel the crunchy pastry and the sweet custard dancing in my mouth. Therefore, though nobody in my family is going to have a birthday, I bought a mille feuille with strawberry and custard in a cake size. When I arrived home, my family opened the cake box and made a teapot of tea at once. After seeing the appearance of the pie, no one is resistible to try it. After grabbing some of it in my plate, the fresh smell of the strawberries start to strike my nostril. And once I tasted it, the custard, pastry and strawberry all melting together in my mouth. The flavor was just indescribable. If you past by the agnes b. Cafe next time, don't forget to get a piece of it to enjoy.

Special Dessert at BELLE EPOQUE

At April 17th, after going to an eye doctor around MRT Zhongxiao Fixing Station, my mom and I decided to have a break in the middle of midterm. Situated behind SOGO, BELLE EPOQUE is a bistro which sells pasta, desserts and some drinks. Although the room may be small, the food there is great. Last time here, I ordered a dish of seafood pasta with tomato sauce and a big plate of cheese and spicy meat sauce with French fries. Due to the joyful experience of last time, I feel like trying one of its specialties this time. So, we ordered pearl milk tea pancakes. It could be out of imagination to try it first time ever. The pancakes have been dipped into some caramel milk tea. And the cream sauce is like milk tea with whipping cream. But it's not too sweet to enjoy the dessert even for my mom. If you like pancakes and Taiwanese pearl milk tea, this is the dessert you shouldn't miss.

Lovely Desserts

I have to admit that I'm certainly a dessert person. Everytime I go out for meal, it always end with a fabulous dessert which makes me too full. I'm not a sweet-lover, however. Dark chocolate is usually more fulfiling than milk chocolate for me. Thus, the dessert doesn't have to be huge or super rich to make my meal completed. What it needs to possess are just multi-layer of taste and light flavor.
One night of this week, tired of studying, I went out to grab some interesting stuffs. One is from the Second Floor  Bakery, and another is from 1789, which is a new dessert and coffee shop near my house. I have to say that the best cake that I've ever tasted in Taipei is this one, Oreo cheesecake sold at Second Floor Bakery. If you are a person who loved Oreo-related products, you must try it. The cake not only consists cheesecake which the bakery is famous for, but also Oreo on top and below the cake. The flavor is sort of light but tasty, made me enjoy the time sharing with my mom. Another dessert that I tried this time is from 1789, which is a French dessert shop named after the year of French evolution. The dessert there is super tiny but expensive. I picked one with blueberry and one with caramel. It's kind of hard to explain what the desserts are exactly; nevertheless, they are something made of pastry and flavored custard that I've never seen before. What I could say only is that they're like luxurious puffs. It taste different and lighter, but the ingredients look alike.

Dinner at Wulao after the Scandal of Deceiving Customers

Since Wulao restaurant is near my neighborhood, I've always wanted to give it a try for seeing it full of people every time I pass by. Thus, even after the scandals that the chain restaurants of that company have provided artificial ingredients which they claimed to be natural, I consider the restaurant worth a try to anyway. During the holiday, my family decided to have a dinner at the restaurant. Surprisingly, maybe because of either the scandals or Tomb Sweeping festival, there's still table for us to make a reservation an hour before we went.
We ordered twin-side hot spot, which consisted of spicy and regimen soup on each side. The ingredients that added to the hot spot are all sold separately. Therefore, it mithy cost you a lot if we like to enjoy an all-you-can eat kind of meal. The sliced beaf and pork we ordered is pretty fresh. Also, the soup came great with all the ingredients. It's neither too salty nor light.
The meal was great and the atmosphere was good for those who want to have a decent dinner with friends or family. The service there was really great like others have mentioned, but I guess it won't be an option for me when it comes to having a satisfying meal next time.

A family reunion with a freshman & junior

This Saturday the junior and freshman who are in the same department as I went to have a family reunion at T.G.I.F. Since I love American food very much, this restaurant was the first one came to my mind when it comes to enjoy a happy time with the family. Although the price is kind of high, we ordered a lot because the dishes looks fantastic on the menu. The appetizers we had were a combo of spicy chicken wings, onion rings and some vegetables. Also, the BBQ pork ribs we ordered is awesome. And it probably is my favorite dish at Friday. A meal won't be perfect without a decent dessert. Thus, we ordered a pie with peanut butter, banana, raspberry jam and some vanilla ice cream, so called Elvis' favorite. The dessert was kind of sweet. But I have to admit that it's really good and unique.After going on a diet ,hope to have a great meal in the restaurant again soon.

An Afternoon Tea at Dazzling Cafe Deluxe (3/15)

      Last Saturday, after my big brother finishing his test, my family and I went to have some exquisite afternoon tea to celebrate. We went to the branch of Dazzling cafe at the Breeze Center. Since we have heard many people talking about this restaurant, we’ve been pretty excited to paying it a visit. After looking out the menu and hesitating about what to order for a while, we decided to order some pasta with shrimps and asparaguses, oreo honey toast, and strawberry waffles with ice cream.
      Once the order came, we can’t help ourselves but taste the pasta immediately. The fresh flavor of it really fulfilled our appetites. What’s really amazed us is the honey toast, which the restaurant is famous for. The toppings on it made us wondering how we gonna eat it. Fortunately, the waitress provided a service of cutting it for us after we took a picture. The honey toast came great with the oreo macaroon and ice cream. Although many people think the dessert is too sweet, I consider this flavor just fit. Speaking of the crunchy waffles, the strawberry sorbet suits well with it. Soon, we finished all the dishes and going home with satisfication.

A visit to MEOWVELOUS CAFE (3/11)

     I am person who take food really serious. If the food in front of me wasn't good, I rather starve. Therefore, I enjoy tasting delicacies whenever I have free time. However, price and particular category of food aren't my standard of valuing tasty food. Even instant noodles can fufill my picky taste. Since I'm someone who hate to have the same thing every day, I go for an adventure when searching food. Tying new restaurants and dishes become one of my hobby during the weekends or whenever I go traveling. To me, a trip won't be completed without trying some snacks or beverages.
     On Tuesday this week, I went to a great bistro near my house for dinner. Inspite of the fact that it wasn't totally new for me, I looked forward to paying it a visit. Because the restaurant had stopped open until recently for rebuilding the interiors and thinking of new styles for the dishes. As expected, the dishes turned to be fresh and amazing. Although the price is sort of not fascinating, the cooking skills of chefs and textures of the food there definetly worth you a try! 

 

My Favorite Sport (2/21)

     Basketball has been my favorite sport since I was in elementary school. Without a coach, I always practice it with my elder brother and cousins, who have been the major tutors for me since I was little. As I grew up, basketball has become an important part of my life. Because of the chances of both making friends and enhancing my health which basketball do provide me with, I enjoy playing and watching it as well in my free time.
     Usually after schools or on weekends, I tend to play basketball with my friends or even people that I don't know at all. Despite the fact that I don't know the people well, the passion we all have for basketball builds up some kind of connection between us. By cooperating and communication with one and another during games, I've not only easily made lots of friends but also quite learned from their attitude of persistence and hardwork for sports.
     With basketball in my daily life, I've been in good health and shape for most of the time. Since jogging and working out is necessary for even an amateur player, I've been motivated to exercise regularly. In fact, at the same time, my mind and brain both become more clear due to the routine of exercising I follow. Therefore, the sport has kept me healthy not only physically but mentally.
     Besides playing, watching basketball games on TV is also one of my favorite entertainment. By watching NBA games on TV, I've admired and learned from the best without saying. In addition, it to some degree becomes one of the connections and conversation topics among my friends and I.
     I guess no matter how old and where I am in the future, basketball will always be an indispensible sport in my life. And hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy the sports even if I'm graduated, married or burried in work.
